Cremona transformed during fascism
We propose an unconventional tour, between the city centre of Cremona and the Po river, aimed at
highlighting the changes promoted by the politician Farinacci during the fascist period. During
the walking tour and the transfer by coach we have the opportunity to compare the local examples
of rationalist architecture and some
famous contemporary buildings like the Eur quarter in Rome, the Ca' Brutta (Ugly House) and the Palazzo dell'Arte in Milan, the Novocomum in Como, Vittoria Square in Brescia.
We suggest meeting the group at the bus station of Via Mantova-Piazzale Libertà, easy to be reached, just off the Cremona highway exit (A21). Thereafter the walking tour leads to:

- the result of the insulation of the complex of the Cathedral and the changes concerning the Northern side of the Piazza del Comune,
- the complete transformation of the roman Platea Parva, now Piazza Stradivari: the building of the Chamber of Commerce, previously "of Corporations", the headquarters of Generali Insurance, previously Palazzo Adriatica, the Central Post Office and the Palazzo dell'INPS (social security company), near the Galleria (arcade) XXV Aprile,
- the result of the demolition of Sant'Angelo Monastery in Marconi Square, where lies still one of the most precious buildings of the fascist period, the Palazzo dell'Arte designed by Cocchia,
- the club house of the Canottieri Baldesio and the former Colonie Padane (river health resort), in the public Po park, to be
